What is the POCKET Steering Committee?
Six organizations have joined to create the Physicians of Ontario Collaborating for Knowledge
Exchange and Transfer Steering Committee (POCKET):
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
Guidelines Advisory Committee (GAC)
Institute for Work & Health (IWH)
Knowledge Translation Program of the University of Toronto (KTP)
Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP)
Centre for Effective Practice
Each organization within the POCKET Steering Committee is involved in the promotion of evidence, transfer of knowledge (knowledge exchange) and dissemination of evidence-based recommendations. In coming together, the POCKET Steering Committee members recognize that their independent yet parallel initiatives share converging interests, but each organization appeals to specific audiences with which they enjoy credibility; reaches specific extended networks and target audiences; and has specific areas of expertise (such as research, promotions & communications, education, technology).
PURPOSE OF THE COLLABORATIVE
- To have a positive impact on physician practice, patient outcomes and utilization of health services, through Educationally Influential Physicians (EIs).
- To promote through EIs education, professional development and quality improvement as regular practice amongst physicians.
